'Intense' games to Fernando Torres’s liking |
DESPITE making a stunning start to his Liverpool career with a brilliant goal against Chelsea, Fernando Torres insists he still has a lot to learn about playing in English football. Torres is already a darling of the Kop after netting in the 16th minute of Sunday’s showdown with Jose Mourinho’s men as he made a first repayment on the record transfer fee Liverpool splashed out in the summer. Despite feeling a sense of satisfaction after opening his scoring account at Anfield, the 23-year-old is adamant he still has work to do before he is fully adapted to life in the Barclays Premier League. "Everything is different in England and I have to get used to that," said the Spaniard. "The way the fans live the game and sing throughout to create an atmosphere is different. "Before the game, everyone sings as well. It is not the same as it is in Spain. "The English game is more physical, too, but it’s nice. "It’s end-to-end, it flows more and it doesn’t stop so often. For the fans and for the players, that’s great. "Manchester United and Chelsea are the strongest teams, but every game is intense. "You have to adapt your game according to your opponents. "There is a lot of expectation among the fans because of the fee, but all I can do is work and score goals like I did against Chelsea. "Scoring helps with your adaptation, but I don’t feel any pressure, so the goal did not come as a relief. |
