Garcia set to make Atletico move

"We are working on Luis Garcia's permanent transfer to Atletico de Madrid," the 29-year-old's agent Manuel Garcia Quillon told PA Sport.
"If all goes well, the deal should be completed either today or tomorrow."
Atletico are also negotiating with Liverpool over the sale of forward Fernando Torres, who could be making a switch to the Anfield club for £26.5m.
Garcia joined Liverpool from Barcelona in 2004 and helped the Reds win the Champions League but has been out injured since January this year.

LUIS GARCIA could be the makeweight which convinces Atletico Madrid to part with their skipper, Fernando Torres. As reported in yesterday’s ECHO, 23-year-old Torres has leapt to the top of Rafa Benitez’s summer wish list. But Atletico will not let the striker leave without a £24m buy-out clause in his contract being activated. Liverpool are loathe to pay that kind of cash, but Garcia could be used as a bargaining chip. |
