RAFA: I HOPE ROBBIE SCORES ON SUNDAY
0 Comments Published by KL Ocs Kid on Saturday, May 12, 2007 at 5:45 PM.Rafael Benitez today confirmed striking legend Robbie Fowler will be leaving Liverpool at the end of the season - and then backed him to score a final goal at the Kop end on Sunday. | |
Fowler's contract expires in the summer and although he's now been told his second spell with the Reds is coming to an end, Benitez is keen to pay tribute to one of the greatest goalscorers the Premiership has ever seen. He will start in the Reds' final game of the league season against Charlton at the weekend and could even enjoy a fairytale ending to his Anfield career by helping Liverpool to Champions League glory in Athens. "I hope Robbie can score a goal in front of The Kop. That would be a good way for him to say goodbye to the supporters," he said. "I want to say thank you to Robbie. He will play on Sunday and it's good the fans will have a chance to see him at Anfield before he leaves us. "We had a good meeting and he understood the situation. He's been a good signing for us and, of course, there are still two games left so his time at Liverpool is not over yet. "I know how much he means to the club and the fans so it will be a special day for him on Sunday." |
