CHESTER City have had discussions with Liverpool with a view to taking promising young midfielder Lee Peltier to the Deva Stadium on loan. The 20-year-old Toxteth-born player has made three Carling Cup appearances for Liverpool, as well as Champions League match against Turkish side Galatasaray. City chairman Step-hen Vaughan said last night: “We are hopeful of attracting Lee to Chester for a tempor-ary spell, we know we face competition from Yeovil Town for his signature, but hope-fully our location and the ambition we all have at the club, will tip his decision in our favour.” Chester will finalise the signing of ex-Everton midfielder, Tony Grant today, after the player agreed personal terms. Meanwhile, Chester are talking to an interested party, who is keen to take over the sponsorship of the Deva Stadium. Three of the club’s seated stands have been sponsored for next season by APC Overnight, Liversage Holdings, and Vaughan Promotions. Last night City easily overcame League of Wales side Connah’s Quay Nomads 8-1 in a pre-season friendly at the Deeside stadium. Chester scored twice in the first half with headers from John Murphy and Nathan Lowndes, but the Welshmen hit back with a Stewart White effort. In the second half City hit six, with goals from Chris Holroyd (2), Simon Yeo, Ritchie Partridge, Phil Bolland, and Kevin Roberts. City face Blue Square Premier side Droylsden at the Butchers Arms tomorrow. CHESTER CITY: Danby, Marples, Westwood, Butler, Wilson, Partridge, Hand, Sandwith, Ellison, Murphy, Lowndes. Subs: Vaughan, Bolland, Linwood, Holroyd, Yeo, Marsh-Evans, Roberts, Rutherford. |
