Sir Alex Ferguson is confident Manchester United will win any legal battle with Gabriel Heinze.
It has been confirmed that representatives of Heinze, who is wanted by Liverpool, have employed a team of lawyers to try and negotiate the Argentine's United exit.
Liverpool have reportedly met United's £6.8million asking price for the player and the legal aid will now investigate if the Old Trafford outfit have a right to block the transfer.
However, United manager Ferguson is confident Heinze will report back for pre-season training on 6th August.
"We are aware Gabby is taking legal advice," said Ferguson.
"That is good. I hope it is good advice because we are confident of our position."
Heinze, who is unhappy after losing his Old Trafford first-team place, argues he has a letter from United chief executive David Gill confirming that he would be allowed to leave if a club met their asking price.
The 29-year-old has two years to run on his current contract at the club, but this latest move makes it unlikely that he will feature when United begin their defence of their Premier League crown against Reading on 12th August.
